BOTOX® Cosmetic Injection
BOTOX ® Cosmetic, an injection available to Chicago patients who want to relax the creases and wrinkles on their face, has been called the ultimate fountain of youth for its ability to erase years from a person's face. This skin rejuvenation procedure uses botulinum toxin type A, a purified chemical that, when injected into the skin, interferes with the underlying muscles' ability to furrow the brow or squint the eyes. In essence, the BOTOX® Cosmetic injection paralyzes the contractions that make the face look tense and harsh. This nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment is intended for people from 18 to 65 and is the only treatment of this type that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
Results vary, but patients usually notice that their frown lines, smile lines, and crow's feet have smoothed out significantly (or completely disappeared) within a week of BOTOX® Cosmetic injection at our Chicago plastic surgery center. The medication is injected with a tiny needle and often leaves a small bump that disappears within an hour. The smoothing effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic usually last six months, but the injection can be repeated at our Chicago center as needed. Restylane®
Restylane® is a unique injectable dermal filler that uses hyaluronic acid to restore volume and plump out lines, wrinkles, and scars. Found naturally in the body, hyaluronic acid is a hydrophilic ("water loving") substance that attracts and supports moisture in the skin, playing a major role in skin cell renewal and resilience. With Restylane® injections at our practice in Chicago, patients can once again enjoy a luminous, smooth complexion.
One of the advantages of Restylane® is its capacity for producing outstanding results with very minimal risk of complications. The hyaluronic acid used in Restylane® is non-animal based and highly biocompatible, which means patients do not need to worry about taking an allergy test before receiving injections. In fact, Restylane® works with the skin’s natural moisture and structure to reinforce existing collagen and elastin. It is an excellent solution for improving the appearance of crow’s feet, nasolabial folds, forehead wrinkles, and other unwanted facial lines. The plumping effects of Restylane® last for approximately six months.
JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel
In addition to Restylane®, we offer Juvéderm™ - another injectable gel composed of hyaluronic acid. Juvéderm™ works similarly to Restylane, but has a slightly smoother consistency and is the first FDA-approved hyaluronic acid filler proven to be safe and effective for use by persons of color. Juvéderm™ is available in two formulations, depending upon the needs of the patient: Juvéderm™ Ultra for minimizing fine lines and wrinkles, and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus for deeper creases and folds.

Radiesse®
Radiesse® can be used to increase fullness in the lips, lessen the severity of smile lines around the nose and mouth, tone down frown lines between the eyes, and diminish acne scars. Injected just below the surface of the skin, Radiesse® is an excellent solution for Chicago-area patients who want to revitalize their facial appearance with noninvasive rejuvenation techniques. Radiesse® is composed of thousands of tiny calcium hydroxlyapatite microspheres that are suspended in a water-based gel. When the biocompatible gel is injected into the targeted facial area, it quickly begins forming microscopic "scaffolds" to raise sagging skin.
Over time, Radiesse® stimulates collagen production in the injected area; as the gel naturally dissolves, the body's own skin support system takes its place for a more natural, refreshed look. In fact, when compared with traditional collagen injections, Radiesse® has numerous advantages. The results of Radiesse® injections can last for a year or more – much longer than collagen filler – and patients require fewer injections than with other leading fillers. And its biocompatibility means that patients do not have to wait for the results of an allergy test before experiencing the rejuvenating benefits of Radiesse®.

Sculptra®
Another dermal filler that functions much like Radiesse® is Sculptra®. This long-lasting dermal filler provides exceptional facial contouring and volume restoration for patients with lipoatrophy (facial fat loss). Composed of poly-L-lactic acid, Sculptra® causes a gradual increase in skin thickness. Completely biocompatible, it has even been approved by the FDA for use in patients with human immunodeficiency virus. The benefits of Sculptra® injections can last for as long as two years before repeat treatment is needed.
